Catfish react particularly strongly to high-frequency artificial lures. Furthermore, they spend most of the day at the bottom. When spin fishing, this automatically means that you have to use lures that can cope with these requirements. Say hello to the cat crank 🙂

Compared to larger models, small cranks emit significantly higher-frequency vibrations into the water. This gives small cranks an advantage when hunting catfish.

The Cat Crank is the first small crankbait that is really stable enough for targeted catfish fishing. It also fulfils other characteristics that are important for catfish cranking like no other wobbler on the market.

Until recently, we had to misuse other perch, zander or pike crankbaits for catfish spinning. We had to replace the treble hooks and split rings. In order to maintain sufficient stability, we also connected the split rings with leader material. The result was a fairly tangled crankbait that no longer had any buoyancy due to the heavier split rings and treble hooks. Nevertheless, these modified lures were the best we could use. Fortunately, that time is now over.

The Cat Crank has a body that is narrower than conventional cranks when viewed from above. In combination with its wide diving bucket, it runs „narrow“ and stable in the current. It also reaches its maximum diving depth quickly.

We recommend our Evo Cat Spin with 100 g casting weight (length depending on the application), Silent Leader in 0.7 mm as leader material, a 0.33 mm Hulk Line as main line and a Twistlock Snap as carabiner. As an alternative to Silent Leader, you can also use a thin Mono Leader Pro (0.78 mm or 0.91 mm) as a leader.

The following applies to baiting: monotonous baiting is best. The cat crank can reach the bottom from time to time. But it also catches in mid-water when the catfish are active.

PS: The 4.5 metre deep diving version has a slightly wider body than the 3 metre version. This allowed us to ensure a more stable run.
